This native plant initiative provides New Yorkers with information and access to indigenous plants and flowers for home and garden use. The Carvalhos of Oak Grove Farms at Union Square Greenmarket now offer certified native plants, making local flora readily available to New Yorkers for the first time ever.

The plants are local, NYC ecotypes, grown from seed gathered in the five boroughs by NYC Parks’ Greenbelt Native Plant Center in Staten Island.  More about this initiative from the Flatbush Gardener’s blog.
